Ask us about our weekend and we'll rave about the two days' worth of hiking in  NH as part of the IOCA's (Intercollegiate Outing Club Association) Fall Fling weekend, graciously hosted by the MITOC. Sundays do not get any better than climbing a 45 degree incline on granite in full view of the glorious Whites. Pictures will be posted shortly. You can check them out by clicking on the ones we've already uploaded--look at the right-hand side of the blog.

In other news, we're holding a general assembly meeting on Tuesday, November 17 at 6:00pm in CAS/STO 442. Come to hear about what we're planning for NEXT semester as well as some fun things that will be coming up before we start wrapping up for finals!

If you want to learn more about the IOCA or want to get on their mailing list, visit their website: http://www.ioca.org
The IOCA has over 50 participating colleges throughout the US. If go on three IOCA trips in four years, you'll get your very own IOCA patch and surpass all dimensions of cool.

Outing Club'ers!

For those who are bummed about missing next weekend's cabin trip, there's still a chance to set up your tents and break in your sleeping bags.

If you haven't already heard about the Sleep-Out campaign, here's the scoop: students and community members in coalition with the Students for a Sustainable Future gather at various locations across Massachusetts to advocate towards a stabilization of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere at 350 Parts Per Million (PPM). The ultimate goal is to push Governor Patrick to introduce a bill and for the state legislature to pass a bill that would move our planet back towards 350PPM and Massachussetts towards 100% Clean Electricity by 2020.

During the week, student groups will be sleeping out at the GSU (except for Sundays, where we all go out to the Boston Commons...) Here's a chance to combine the Outing Club spirit with environmental advocacy. Those who support the cause are encouraged to join their fellow students on campus.

We'll be joining the MITOC in their third Fall Fling event on Nov

New Website! 10/17/2009

We've just launched a new website for the new semester. It was a long overdue project and we're finally glad to be able to check it off our to-do list.

So much has happened since the beginning of the fall semester. We kick-started the year with our a bike ride to Walden Pond. Check out the awesome route we took on bikely.com: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/MIT-Bridge-to-Walden-Pond-return-via-Minutemen-Trailweeblylink_new_window

Soon after, we had a group head up to NH for a weekend of backpacking in the White Mountains. And later sent at team of 8 brave BUOC'ers to bare the elements in the 2009 Presidential Ridge Relay Race (PRRR) hosted by Tufts University.

Next weekend we'll be hitting up the Nashau River on our first-ever canoe trip. It also seems like the weather will not disappoint us. I hope that Boston behaves...at least until Halloween!
